Two of us

Soy fan de The Beatles, la semana pasada tuve tremenda Beatlemanía (ya saben, la discografía en 5.1, el Rock Band y demás) pero incluso hasta la fecha no puedo decir que conozca todas las canciones ni que me sepa todas las letras.

Esto último se ejemplifica con la canción Two of us cuya letra conocía por encima, pero hasta hace poco escuché la historia de su origen:

Resulta que ya muy desgastada la relación entre John y Paul, cuando estaban grabando el álbum/película Let it be se dieron cuenta que la hostilidad entre ellos era tal que se bloqueaban creativamente. Fue entonces cuando decidieron salir ellos dos solos a un día de campo, sin hablar de trabajo ni de pleitos, sólo a comer, beber, fumar y convivir y fue así como, intentando limar las asperezas, crearon esta canción que habla (ahora lo entiendo) de amistad.

Una vez fui músico

Como lo dice el título del post. Incluso cuando estaba terminando la preparatoria estaba entre estudiar Arquitectura, Música o Ingeniería en Computación.

El chiste es que como músico cuasi-frustrado en algún momento tomé clases de improvisación y velocidad en la guitarra (con el Profe Hugo) y en algún momento me puse a usar esos conocimientos grabando una canción que me gusta mucho de Paolo Nutini.

La canción se llama Loving You. Yo grabé todos los instrumentos excepto la batería, pues confieso que soy arrítmico, así que utilicé los loops del GarageBand. En lugar de la voz usé la improvisación que estuve aprendiendo, y decidí meterle un poco mas de punch.

My Song of the Week

Conmemorando un año en twitter y un año en la banca —no pregunten— recopilé la siguiente lista de canciones que, según last.fm han sido la más escuchada en cada una de las 53 semanas del año.

En algunos casos recurrí al segundo lugar de la semana, ya sea por evitar repeticiones, porque había un multiple empate en primer lugar y elegí otra opción, o porque se nota que mi hermano estuvo usando mi computadora y se registraron datos suyos.

Es muy interesante ver esta lista de canciones, pues en su mayoría son un reflejo de lo que estaba viviendo esa semana, enamoramientos, desamores, conciertos, eventos, etc. Quizá quienes me conocen personalmente puedan ubicar momentos específicos en el año e incluso identificar canciones que compartimos o que al menos yo les mencioné.

La siguiente canción me gusta mucho, la letra me conmueve pese a que en realidad habla de la adicción a la heroína y en verdad ansío el momento de verla en vivo. Espero que pronto anuncien ya su fecha en México.

Hoy entregué una versión completa de mi tesina a mi asesor; me marcó unos últimos detalles: cositas de formato, unas definiciones que no tengo completas, cuestiones sencillas que hacen que prácticamente se considere listo el trabajo.

Además de esto, me falta también programar la aplicación que es el tema central de la tesina, pero creo que eso me lo aviento en unas cuantas horas así que no me agobia aún demasiado.

En cambio, lo que si me agobia, es lo que sigue. Resulta que este asunto de titularse va más allá de costoso, es caro, muy caro.

Mi primera sorpresa fue que para liberar el servicio social (sí, lo hice hace dos años y apenas estoy entregando las cartas, so what?) hay que pagar una carta de porcentaje de créditos (pero si ya acabé la carrera, lo juro) que cuesta $190 pesos.

No me cayó en gracia esta noticia, pero más adelante cuando me mostraron la lista de cosas que tengo que empezar a revisar para convertirme en ingeniero ASAP los casi doscientos pesos de la carta me parecieron migajas.

Entre peras y manzanas, pitos y flautas, X y Y, fotos, trámites, impresión de un número mínimo de tesinas, etc, se me van a ir mínimo unos $15,000 pesos. Eso, sin pensar en comprar aunque sea una botella de Padre Kino para brindar con alguien esta singular ocasión.

Por eso el título de este post, In The Flesh ya que al salir hoy del ITAM solo pensaba en las primeras líneas de esta canción de Pink Floyd:

Así que pensaste que te gustaría ir al show? Bueno, creo que vendí al Pequeño Bastardo (mi Clío, llamado así en honor a Lil’ Bastard) en buen momento. Estrenar coche vendrá después.

Ni modo, esta es la vida real… Ya con esta rola pegada, decidí que esta mañana me aventaré el Is There Anybody Out There (The Wall Live) completito.

Me gustan mucho los músicos/comediantes. No a cualquiera le pasan pero a mi las canciones “chistosas” me caen muy bien.

Un día con más calmita hago un post completo acerca de todo ese tipo de cosas que me gusta oír, desde Les Luthiers hasta Dick Cheese. Pero dada mi escasez de tiempo y a que traigo pegadísima esta canción, hago este post muy breve para que conozcan a Tim Minchin, con su canción If You Really Loved Me.
